Co-founder and CEO, Outschool

Brief info

Amir Nathoo is the co-founder and CEO of Outschool, an online learning platform that empowers kids ages 3–18 to learn on their own terms. A visionary tech entrepreneur and an advocate for independent, lifelong learning, Amir has deep experience in technology and a talent for building strong teams. He is passionately committed to transforming how millions of families experience education.

Under Amir’s leadership, Outschool has redefined education through a marketplace-based approach, starting with seed funding from Y Combinator and other investors. Designed as an “Airbnb for kids’ classes,” the platform connects independent teachers with learners in a collaborative, live video chat setting, offering a customizable and social learning experience. Now widely recognized as an ed-tech leader, Outschool has grown to a $3 billion valuation, most recently raising a $110 million Series D in 2021.

Beyond Outschool, Amir is deeply engaged in humanitarian efforts, particularly in education access for underserved communities. He serves on the board of Tech for Palestine, a coalition of over 8,000 tech professionals dedicated to leveraging technology for Palestinian empowerment. Through his leadership at Outschool, he has championed initiatives that provide remote learning opportunities for Palestinian students affected by conflict, helping to ensure continuity of education in the most challenging circumstances.

Amir is also committed to supporting entrepreneurs and sits on several boards, including Scribd, an online library that connects storytellers with their audience. He advises young entrepreneurs to start early, keep expenses low, and build strong networks to turn ambitious ideas into reality.

An alumnus of St. John’s College, Cambridge, Amir earned an MEng in Electrical and Information Sciences.
